2018 | Publications of Islamic University of Indonesia in Scopus Database: a bibliometric assessment | This paper analyses publications of Islamic University of Indonesia in Scopus database. It aims to analyse the publications from number of document, author, collaborating affiliations, and comparison with other universities. Data was collected from Scopus database for the university between 2005 and 2017. The results show that university document improve continuously during research time frame. Furthermore, the results indicate that university collaboration in research is still limited to some universities having close location or having alumni as university faculty members. In comparison with other universities in Indonesia, the university is left behind and in need for further improvement. 2018 | The Implementation of School-Based Management in Extracurricular Robotics Execution at Elementary School | The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze: 1) the implementation of school-based management in robotics extracurricular at SD Muhammadiyah 4; 2) factors supporting the implementation of school-based management in robotics extracurricular at SD Muhammadiyah 4; 3) and inhibiting factors of the implementation school-based management of robotics extracurricular at SD Muhammadiyah 4. This is a case study research. Data collection techniques are using in-depth interviews, participant observation and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of school-based management is in accordance with the characteristics and the framework of school-based management well, including cooperation and communication between schools, parents, students synergized. Factors supporting the implementation of school-based management are high community participation, complete learning tools, learning process using the PAKEM approach. Inhibiting factors in the implementation of the lack of affordable facilities and infrastructure as the main media for the process of extracurricular robotics activities is less stable for the learners. |

2018 | Principal Competency Correlation, Work Motivation, and Job Satisfaction on Teacher Performance | This study aimed to examine the correlation of 1) principals’ competence on teacher performance; 2) work motivation on teacher performance; 3) job satisfaction on teacher performance; and 4) headmaster competence, work motivation, and job satisfaction along with teacher performance. This research used a correlational quantitative method and the data were collected thorugh the principal competence questionnaire, work motivation and job satisfaction, and teacher performance observation sheet. The results of the study showed that: 1) the principals’ competence has a positive and significant effect on the performance of the teachers of State Senior High Schools in Pamekasan sub-district; 2) work motivation of teacher performance on the teacher performance; and 3) job satisfaction on the teacher performance; while the highest significant effect is on 4) principals’ competence, work motivation and job satisfaction to the teacher performance of State Senior High School in Pamekasan Sub-district. |

2018 | A Needs Analysis of Instructional Materials on Methodology of Research Based on Scientific Publications for Special Education Master Program | The purpose of this study is to create instructional materials for Methodology of Research based on Scientific Publications for Special Education Master Program to support publications in accordance with the Standards of Higher Education that publish scientific work in international journals. Four-D Thiagarajan development research methods (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination) were implemented in 2 years. Data are collected by questionnaires, and interviews, observations, and documentation. Moreover, data are analyzed by interactive techniques. Define stage result showed that:(1) initial-final analysis: problem in scientific work publication of Special Education Master Program not complied yet to DGHE (Directorate General of Higher Education) standard;(2) learner analysis;(3) concept analysis;(4) instructional materials Research-based publication literature;(5) objective formulation: 15 theoretical and practical objectives are formulated, the focus of national-international journal-publishing practice. The design stage produces a map of instructional materials and contents and physical book design. The product is an initial draft that requires refinement and further research. |

2018 | The Role of Principal Leadership to Improve Teacher Performance in Islamic Elementary School | The purposes of this study were for 1) the role of principal in an effort to improve school achievement; 2) teacher performance; 3) principal effort to improve school performance. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The results show that 1) the leadership role of the principal has met the EMASLIM standard which has been proven from interviews, observations and documentation, 2) the performance of teachers already meet the existing law and teachers prefer the process to get quality results, and 3) the principal has sought all activities that support the effort to improve the performance of teachers, either by attending seminars, workshops, teacher training and evaluation. |

2018 | The Management of Beginning Literacy for Children with Special Needs in Inclusive School | This study aims to describe the implementation of the management functions including: planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating in the development of literacy, especially in the beginning literacy in inclusive school which was focussed on: school literacy management by principal, learning process in inclusive class or resource class, also facilities support for beginning literacy. Qualitative approach with the multi-case design and Stake procedure were used. The study was held in SDN (Public Elementary School) Klampis-426 Surabaya. The result of this study showed that the function of literacy management according to GLS (School Literacy Movement) was good enough as the effect form the strong power performed by principals, in addition the management of beginning literacy in inclusive class was adequate by implementing collaborative principles, resource room and facilities were good enough, but on the other hand special class was not good enough. |

2018 | The management of students with special needs in inclusive school | The objectives of this research were to know the implementation of student management in inclusive school, and to know the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research used a qualitative approach, with descriptive type of research. The data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation in public inclusive elementary school Ketintang II/410 Surabaya Indonesia. The informants were principal, classroom teacher, and special education teacher. The result of this research is that the implementation of student management is quite good in all aspects including planning, organizing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating. However, an aspect of planning still requires an improvement in the new student's registration team. Supporting factors in the implementation of student management are optimal support from various parties and inclusive culture that has been developed well, while inhibiting factors in student management are the direct support from parents and the lack of knowledge and experience of teachers. |

2018 | Understanding Emotion Patterns in Children with Autism: A Case Study | The study investigated the emotion pattern in children with autism. Children with autism are considered to have disabilities in recognizing and expressing their emotion. Even though, latest studies show that actually, the children are able recognize and express basic emotions in their daily life. However, just a few in those studies explore emotional pattern in children with autism by look upon their behavioral responses. This is a qualitative research employed through observation with audiovisual records to explore three ten-year-age children with autism in Surabaya, Indonesia. The observation was conducted to observe emotional stimulus, responses of emotional stimulus in children with autism such as emotional reactions or emotional control in subject. The results found that human being, object, and condition could be stimuli that may cause emotional reactions. From the emotional reactions could be classified based on the subject’s expressed emotions, namely positive emotions (ie happy, love, missing, and shy) and negative emotions (ie angry, scary, sad, and shocked). In addition, in terms of emotional control of the subject could be in the form of external and internal emotional controls. |
